TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran’s Minister of Road and Urban Development Mohammad Eslami announced Tehran’s readiness to connect Khaf-Herat railway to Mazar-i-Sharif in Afghanistan.
“Iran is ready to construct Mazar-i Sharif railway and connect Khaf-Herat railway to the city,” Eslami said on Tuesdsay at the inauguration ceremony of training Afghanistan railway personnel.
He stressed that Iran's development is intertwined with that of its neighbors.
The minister noted that countries with cultural commonalities will be developed through using human resources.
He voiced hope that Afghan traders will take advantage of the Herat-Khaf railway.
In relevant remarks last month, Eslami said that the newly-inaugurated Khaf-Herat railway between Iran and Afghanistan can annually transfer 6mln tons of cargos and 1mln passengers.
Eslami made the remarks on Thursday December 10, addressing the inauguration ceremony of Khaf-Herat railway project through video conference.
He underlined that the railway has the capacity of transporting six million tons of cargo and also one million passengers annually.
